#57: Choosing Your Perfect Wedding Date in North Texas

Deciding when to tie the knot is an important step in your wedding planning journey. In this guide, we'll explore the factors to consider when selecting the ideal date for your special day.

So, let's dive in and find the perfect time for your wedding!

Tip #1 - Embrace the Weather

Weather can always have a mind of its own - there will always be some aspect that you have no control over. So what to do?

When choosing your wedding date, there are tips and things to think about to help minimize your stress in regard to the time of year and weather. That is why you see “wedding season” thrown around on websites, blogs and even see venues increase their rates during these prime dates.

Since I’ve been in the industry here in North Texas specifically for a long time and Hawthorn Hills since 2014 we are going to use North Texas weather as a specific example here. Now - if you live, visit or have friends/family in North Texas then you know when people talk about the weather it usually includes a subtle eye roll, laugh, or disregard. Our weather is CRAZY friends and changes frequently. But all that aside - coming from someone who stares at the weather reports and outlook day in and day out on our couples behalves I have to tell you… It’s not always as crazy as you may think.

SO -

The weather in North Texas can vary throughout the year, so it's essential to consider the climate when selecting your wedding date.

Generally, like most areas in the US Spring and fall offer mild temperatures, making them popular choices for outdoor ceremonies. The vibrant colors of blooming flowers in spring and the rustic charm of fall foliage can create a picturesque backdrop for your nuptials. However, do keep in mind that summers can be quite hot, and winters can bring cooler temperatures.

Consider a plan for appropriate accommodations during extreme weather conditions.

Tip #2 - Local Events and Holidays

We LOVE events, festivities and celebrations. It can quickly fill your schedule between family, work, friends and more - and same goes for your guests. If you are planning your date on/near or around a holiday giving your guests a little more of a heads up (aka send those invitations a bit earlier) is not a bad thing at all.

North Texas is known for its lively calendar of events and festivals. Be sure to check local event calendars and major holidays to avoid any potential conflicts. Scheduling your wedding during a busy event might cause logistical challenges for you and your guests, such as traffic congestion or limited accommodation options. Avoiding these dates will help ensure a smoother experience for everyone involved.

In addition, Hawthorn Hills is located in a college town - there are 2 Universities and 2 Junior college campuses in Denton alone. Pop the ever-growing list of high schools in there that all use the University for graduation and mid-May - mid-June becomes a BUSY time of year here. Not only for venues - but for caterers, DJs, hotels, Air BnBs, and much more. If May is your day and you are in a college town I highly suggest you book those key vendors and room blog ASAP. Way less to worry about!

Tip #3 - Speaking of Vendor Availability

Securing your preferred vendors is crucial for a successful wedding. Popular photographers, caterers, and wedding planners tend have bookings far in advance, May 12 - 18 months out. If you have specific vendors in mind, check their availability before finalizing your wedding date.

Being flexible with your date can increase the chances of securing the vendors who will make your dream wedding a reality.

Tip #4 - Personal Significance

Consider the dates that hold personal significance for you and your partner.

Did you have your first date on a specific day?

Or is there a date that holds sentimental value in your relationship?

Choosing a meaningful date can add an extra layer of significance to your wedding and make it even more memorable for both of you.

Tip #5 - Budget-Friendly Seasons

If budget is a significant consideration, choosing a wedding date during the off-peak season can offer potential cost savings. Some venues and vendors may offer discounted rates during less busy months. By opting for an off-peak date, you can allocate more of your budget towards other aspects of your wedding or even consider upgrading certain elements.

Selecting the perfect wedding date in North Texas involves a careful balance of factors such as weather, local events, vendor availability, personal significance, and budget considerations. Take your time to research and weigh the options. Remember, ultimately, the date you choose should reflect your vision and priorities for your special day.

We hope this guide has provided you with valuable insights and guidance in choosing your wedding date in North Texas. May your wedding day be filled with love, joy, and unforgettable moments as you embark on this beautiful journey together!
